Mike Hunter paperweight making
Master glassmaker Michael Hunter started his career at Wedgwood Glass in 1974, eventually setting up Twists Glass Studio in 1998 with his wife Sue. Mike's work has been exhibited all over the world including in top museums including the Victoria and Albert, and he's won several prestigious awards.
In recent years Mike has started to branch out, and much to the delight of collectors has started to make a very small number of paperweights. These are made only on the few occasions when the furnace isn't in use for art glass.
The paperweights incorporate many different techniques including torchwork and millefiori, all of very high quality. Mike's closepack millefioris have made a particular impression with paperweight collectors and these have been eagerly snapped up almost as soon as we've received them!

We recently received a prototype of Mike's new hollow crown that he has called 'Urchin' This sold immediately and we promptly asked him to make 2 more as well as 2 larger versions. These have now arrived and we're thrilled with them.

Not only are the Zanfrico canes very attractive they are also raised on the surface of the weight making it very tactile.
Whilst not marked as 1 of 1 each weight will be different depending on the canes used. If you'd like a particular colour combination then do ask and we'll be pleased to ask Mike if he's able to do it for you. No promises though!
