Mike Hunter paperweight making

Master glassmaker Michael Hunter started his career at Wedgwood Glass in 1974, eventually setting up Twists Glass Studio in 1998 with his wife Sue. Mike's work has been exhibited all over the world including in top museums including the Victoria and Albert, and he's won several prestigious awards.

In recent years Mike has started to branch out, and much to the delight of collectors has started to make a very small number of paperweights. These are made only on the few occasions when the furnace isn't in use for art glass.

The paperweights incorporate many different techniques including torchwork and millefiori, all of very high quality. Mike's closepack millefioris have made a particular impression with paperweight collectors and these have been eagerly snapped up almost as soon as we've received them!

We’ve been eagerly awaiting Mike’s new sets of silhouettes canes and when we saw them we weren’t disappointed. He’s now added a seagull, otter and 3 new designs of butterfly, and as always they’re extremely well defined. We have 6 weights on offer and feel sure that as usual they’ll disappear very quickly.
